Question: How long is the rope once its unraveled?

Answer: Total length is 30 feet.

Question: What type of wax is on the jute?

Answer: The waxed jute fiber in our survivor cord is lightly impregnated with paraffin wax, and so far, has proven completely water-proof in internal testing.

Question: Is there 30 feet of all the strands individually?

Answer: All strands are full length through the cord.

Question: What is the weight limit?

Answer: Paracord is good for 550lbs.

Question: Is the ParaTinder 550 preshrunk?

Answer: Yes, paracord is pre-shrunk.

Question: What is the diameter of this cord?

Answer: About 3/16 of an inch.

Question: Can you fuse it?

Answer: Yes, you can fuse it.

Question: I am looking to make new laces for my hiking boots, will this work good for tying knots regularly?

Answer: Yes, this would work well in that capacity.

Question: How easy is it to separate the jute/fishing line/wire from the cordage if our wanting to maintain the integrity of the cordage?

Answer: It depends on how long of a piece you want 10 feet, not too difficult.

Question: Is this cord cut-resistant, as in preventing theft? I'm thinking of replacing the zipper pulls on my bag, either with this or with Kevlar string.

Answer: No, it’s very easy to cut.

Question: Can I use it as vertical lifeline for fall protection system?

Answer: NO Not recommended unless it’s an emergency. Survivor Cord typically breaks at a static 620 - 680 lbs., but when you fall the "JERK" amplifies your weight. That amplification can be anywhere upward of 3x - 4x your weight depending on how long you accelerated towards the ground before the cord catches you. In my personal case, I always braid the cord if I am going to use it in a climbing scenario...just to make sure I have plenty of leeway. That's only if I don't have certified climbing rope with me for some strange reason.

Question: Could I use this product in a quick deploy item?

Answer: Yes, this product is just like any other paracord or utility rope and can be used in quick-deploy items. From the outside, it looks and feels just like paracord, but has the extra strands on the inside.

Question: Is the rope reflective?

Answer: No, it doesn't appear to be.

Question: Does it shrink when its washed?

Answer: I have had it submerged in water while swimming and have not noticed any shrinking.

Question: Why is one of the inner cords wrapped in red? Is there something special about that cord?

Answer:  WAXED JUTE TINDER - waterproof, twisted jute fiber strand is designed to quickly start fires in an emergency. This is the best fire-starting strand on the market. Even in a downpour, a couple sparks from your favorite flint striker, and you'll have an instant fire.

Question: Can I make it in to a bracelet?

Answer: Yes, it would make a fine bracelet.
